If you are among those running from pillar to post to get birth or
death certificates, relief may be at hand. The BBMP is planning to
introduce measures to ensure that these certificates are issued within
an hour of a birth or death being recorded at hospitals.
Over the past two years, the BBMP had been issuing birth/death certificates at its 27 registration centres.
BBMP
officials say they have developed a unique ‘E-transfer’ software that
links hospitals to these centres to help speed up the registration
process.
In the planned system, hospital officials have to upload
details of new births or deaths within 30 minutes of the incident. A
BBMP official said this information will be immediately transferred to
the registration centre. Here, the staff will be required to issue a
birth or death certificate in the next half-an-hour, which will then be
collected by the respective hospitals.
