BMC could follow in MMRDA’s footsteps
The 18-km-long Mithi, of which six km fall under MMRDA’s jurisdiction
and the rest under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), is the
suburbs’ main natural water drain and accommodates untreated waste from
43 side drains.
A BMC official in charge of the river said the civic body will
look into MMRDA’s pilot project to understand what has been done to make
a decision on whether it can be applied to the river under its
jurisdiction as well. “We will see if the results look positive and the
technology seems feasible,” he said.
