BMC observes Self Government Day
BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) kicked off its celebration of Local Self Government Day with a flurry of activities on Monday.
At least nine projects were unveiled on the day while foundation stone was laid for more.
Housing and Urban Development Minister Badri Narayan Patro, Energy Minister Atanu Sabyasachi and Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sarada Prasad Nayak were among the host of guests who went to unveil the projects.
During the day, a drinking water supply project at Kalinga Basti in Badagada, community parks and plantation at Samantarapur and Bhimtangi, streetlights from Damana Square to Patia were inaugurated. Similarly, a pond and a gymnasium at Badagada, streetlights at Ghatikia as well as Pokhariput-Gandamunda were unveiled.
Foundation stone was laid for a drinking water supply project at Sikharchandi. The three legislators of Bhubaneswar Ashok Panda, Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, Bhagirathi Badajena and Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena were present.
