Staff Reporter | Bhopal
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) will now set up call centres in all 14 zones in the city. The decision was taken by Mayor Krishna Gaur at a review meet convened by her on Friday.
Taking account of the developmental work being carried out under pilot projects of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and Project Uday in ward 13 and 14, the Mayor directed officials to ensure the quality and timely completion of the work.
Expressing concerns over epidemic outbreaks in the city, officials were asked to further strengthen the waste collection process and spraying pesticides wherever required.
Further, with a view to effectively address the complaints of the residents, the Mayor directed for call centres to be set up in all 14 zones under the corporation.
These zonal call centres would remain open from 9 am to 6 pm on all working days. The existing call centre would also continue and will be open all seven days of the week. Taking two zones in the review meet per day, scrutiny of developmental works taking place in the zones would be conducted by the Mayor.
Stressing on cleanliness, the Mayor instructed officials to place additional garbage containers in densely populated areas.
Addressing the issue of shortfall in water supply in some areas, she asked for water tanks to be kept in areas where the routine supply from the overhead water tank was insufficient.
Senior officials of the BMC and members of the Mayor-in-Council (MiC) were present at the meet.
