Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike is set to go green
BANGALORE: If all goes well, the much hyped project of generating power through naturally available wind and solar light would lit BBMP and Utility building.
BBMP
is mulling over to install wind mill and solar panels on its head
office at NR Square and generate energy through the same. Out of several
companies that have demonstrated their project on these lines, Luminous
renewable energy solutions private limited, a Pune based company seems
to have bright chances. On Wednesday, when the company representative M K
Naryan demonstrated the project to BBMP, impressed were the Mayor D
Venkatesh Murthy and Commissioner Rajneesh Goel.
“With
the combined working of wind mill and solar panels, we can generate 800
units of power on a daily basis. This power can run fans, lights, and
computers. It can not be sued to for running ACs and lifts. The
windmills are lightening proof,” said Narayan.
“We
would like to implement this project on two buildings at BBMP
headquarters and at Utility building to begin with,” Mayor told TOI.”It’s
a good idea. It can be replicated in high rise buildings and apartments
to make use of the naturally available energy,” said Goel.
According
to Narayan, in Bangalore the wind mills can potentially work due to the
adequate speed of wind flow. “The wind turbines would not affect the
birds, as the noise and vibrations created by the turbines will keep the
birds away,” said Narayan. The windmill, and solar
panel can be installed in any high rise building of five floors and
above or of height 20 metre or 65.6 feet.
