Building demolished over court orders
Nagamangala, December 2, DHNS :
Following directions from the High Court, a team of officials led by Assistant Commissioner G Prabhu razed old commercial complex on the wee hours of Thursday in the town.
This commercial complex belongs to Nagamangala Town Panchayat and the operation carried out under tight police security.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, G Prabhu told that Nagamangala Town Panchayat had passed a resolution for construction of new commercial building after demolishing the old commercial complex in the heart of town in the year 2007.
Protesting this, some 27 traders of the commercial complex went to the High Court and brought a stay order as their livelihood was affected by the decision.
However, the stay order vacated on November 22, 2010 and district administration carried out the demolition drive as per the High Court order.
Rehabilitation
Steps will be taken for allotment shops to the traders who were displaced by the demolition after the construction of the new commercial complex.
Meanwhile, the traders cursed the civic authorities with a swift decision of demolishing the building without giving any time.
