Building violations: Madurai Corporation to move SC
The Madurai Corporation has decided to approach the
Supreme Court and file cases against private buildings which have been
constructed in complete violation of norms. Since some individuals whose
buildings were sealed in the last few months have gone to the High
Court and won the case, the Corporation authorities are now readying to
move the Supreme Court on the issue.
Official sources
said on Sunday that the Corporation Commissioner R.Nanthagopal has
given concurrence to the town planning wing and legal team to pursue the
building violation cases in Supreme Court.
As a
first instance, the civic body is taking up the 11-storeyed hotel that
is being built near the A.V.Bridge (Vaigai Vadakarai) issue to Supreme
Court soon.
