TIRUPATTUR: The bus terminus at Tirupattur will soon get a facelift.
The Tirupattur Municipality has received grant from the State government
to improve the condition of the bus terminus.
The terminus, which was constructed in 1998, witnesses a huge
movement of commuters across the day. It is in dire need of immediate
attention for want of basic amenities.
The existing toilets are in a bad state and the road inside the bus
terminus has been damaged at various places. The condition of the
terminus worsens when it rains with the damaged portions of the road
filled with slush and water.
“The government has sanctioned Rs. 60.40 lakh for improvement of the
bus terminus. Three works will be carried out with these funds –
construction of modern toilets, shifting of two-wheeler stand and laying
of cement concrete surface on damaged portions of the road inside the
terminus. We will construct storm water drain in the terminus for flow
of rain water,” said a municipality official.
The existing two-wheeler stand, which is located near the bus bay,
will be shifted to another place inside the terminus. The official said
that damaged portions of the bus bay will receive cement concrete
surface.
“We will commence these improvement works within a month.
Tenders will be called for to undertake the works,” the official noted.
