Byelections in local body wards notified
: The State Election Commission has issued notification for conducting byelection in five local body body wards on January 18.
This
includes Kochanjilimoodu at Ezukone panchayat in Kollam; Kadappuram at
Elamkunnapuzha in Ernakulam; Vakkad East at Vettom in Malappuram;
Elathur ward in Kozhikode Corporation; and Cherupuzha at Cherupuzha
panchayat in Kannur. Nomination papers can be filed till December 29.
Scrutiny will be held on December 30.
Papers
can be withdrawn till January 2. Counting of votes will be taken up on
January 19. Candidates will have to file their statement of expenses
before February 19.
Panchayat president
The
election of Cherukol panchayat president will be held on December 27
and Kangazha panchayat on December 29, a commission release said.
