CCTV cameras in HDMC zonal offices soon
It will bring in transparency, efficiency: Commissioner
To bring in transparency and efficiency in administration, the
Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation has proposed installing CCTV cameras
in the 12 zonal offices of the corporation.
Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, HDMC Commissioner K.V.
Trilokchandra said that the move would also prevent people from causing
disturbances at the zonal offices.
Mobile biometric systems
He said that mobile biometric systems had been planned, especially for health officials and cleaning staff.
He said that the tender process to purchase the CCTV cameras had been completed and the cameras would be installed shortly.
To a question on the lack of public toilets in busy market areas in
the twin cities, Mr. Trilokchandra said the corporation was in touch
with Sulabh International to set up “pay & use” public toilets and
an MOU in this regard was likely to be signed next month.
He said that apart from this, the corporation would also build toilets.
Special grant
Mr. Trilokchandra said that the State Government had released Rs. 88 crore under the Rs. 100-crore special grant.
Of this, the corporation had spent Rs. 82 crore.
He said that Rs. 33.2 crore had been sent on development of roads in
the twin cities and 99 per cent of the work had been completed.
Inquiries
To a question, Mr. Trilokchandra said that following a complaint
about poor quality of roadworks taken up under the special grant, third
party inquiries were initiated and in one case it was found that the
quality of work was not satisfactory.
“Following the report, we sent notices to the contractor H.V.
Madhukar to set right matters and we have held back the payment. If the
contractor fails to complete the work as per the standards, then we will
take steps to blacklist him,” the Commissioner said.
