Monitored by Mayor K Chandrika, a cleanliness drive was carried out
at Chithira Thirunal Park at Fort on Tuesday. The roads and drains in
the Fort ward were cleaned up by the Corporation workers.

chairman V S Padmakumar, Fort ward councillor Udayalakshmi and BJP
leader in the council P Asok Kumar led the activities.
In the
coming days, the drive will be carried out in more places and for
Wednesday, the area selected is Bypass. The accumulated garbage is
buried and ferried, according to the officials.
CONFRA Demand
Confederation
of Residents Associations (CONFRA) has demanded that cases have to be
registered against the City Corporation for not carrying out
garbage-processing completely before the onset of monsoon and sought an
inquiry into how the civic body spent money allocated for the
pre-monsoon cleaning drive.

the local self-governing bodies and authorities for not cleaning up
drains where mosquitoes breed as garbage heaps hamper the flow of water.
