All zonal commissioners of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation
(GHMC) have been asked to complete patch works and pothole -filling on
main roads by October 14, said GHMC mayor, M Majid Hussain.
The
mayor, along with deputy mayor G Raj Kumar and all GHMC floor leaders,
zonal commissioners and additional commissioner (health &
sanitation), held a review meeting relating to arrangements for upcoming
festivals like Dasara, Deepavali and Eid-al-Adha (Bakrid). He directed
officials to take up all measures that were taken up in previous years.
He
also directed zonal commissioners to ensure cleanliness at Idgahs where
public gatherings are expected to be large. He directed the additional
commissioner (health & sanitation), L Vandan Kumar, to increase the
number of vehicles deployed to remove animal waste and garbage on the
occasion of Bakrid.
GHMC will conduct a special drive of debris
removal before Dasara. Officials have been asked to furnish the list of
vehicles and their schedules to corporators for supervision and better
coordination. He asked them to arrange for special lightings at places
of public gathering during Dasara and to construct temporary ponds,
wherever required, for playing Bathukamma. He instructed the zonal
commissioners to arrange for clearing spaces in graveyards and ensure
proper lighting there.
