As part of this exercise as also to get Ahmedabad approved as a world heritage city, AMC will hand over the necessary documents to the ASI director general during an international conference to be hosted between April 18 and 20 on the occasion of World Heritage Day.
The meeting has been named “Asian World Heritage Cities – Indian Citizen Looking Towards World Heritage”.

AMC Vendor Scheme: HC asks SEWA to appoint members
The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday asked the Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) to appoint four representatives to give suggestions to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to modify the Draft Vendors’ Scheme for the city. SEWA has filed a petition in the HC demanding a vendors’ scheme in the city. The petitioner has said that in the absence of such a scheme, the vendors are facing harassment from the authorities. Following the HC direction, the AMC has now submitted a draft of the scheme before a Division Bench. On Tuesday, the SEWA counsel stated before the Bench that the draft scheme does not contain certain vital ingredients of the Central Vendors Policy and so needs modification. “Following this, the court has asked us to appoint four representatives who will give suggestions to the Municipal Commissioner to modify the scheme,” said SEWA Counsel Bhushan Oza.
He added: “As per the court’s order, the Commissioner will consider the suggestions. If he does not agree to the same, then he will have to give the reasons in writing before the High Court,” he added. The next hearing is on April 19.
