Civic body clears 13 projects worth Rs 4.78 crore in a day
NAGPUR: With the
financial year nearing, both the civic administration and the standing
committee are in a hurry to give nod to developmental projects. This can
be gauged from the fact that on Thursday itself, the standing committee cleared 13 projects worth Rs 4.78 crore.
Standing committee chairman Dayashankar Tiwari said that the panel on Thursday gave its nod to construction of a mutton market in Jagnath Budhwari
(Maskasath). The existing mutton market is in bad shape and as a result
most of the butchers put up their shops on road resulting into
inconvenience to both nearby residents and motorists, said Tiwari. The
new G+1 building, which will have all the facilities including a parking
facility, will come up at a cost of Rs 88 lakh.
The other
projects which got cleared by the standing panel include 10 road
widening and asphaltation works and development of Nara crematorium.
Besides, nod was also given to civic administration’s proposal to
finalise the tender of installing Swami Vivekananda Memorial at Ambazari lake overflow.
Meanwhile, Congress corporator Abha Pande on Thursday claimed that the
private firm Brisk Company appointed by the NMC to clean public toilets
is allegedly using limestone powder instead of bleaching powder while
cleaning public urinals. Pande has also brought it to the notice of
concerned NMC officials. She alleged that the BJP-ruled civic body has
failed to monitor private firms, which are misleading the civic body by
using substandard materials.
