Civic body files complaint against shoe supplier
The education board of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC)
has filed a complaint against a supplier who was given the tender to
provide shoes to students in civic schools.
“The education board filed a complaint with Pimpri police on
Wednesday. He was given the tender to supply Bata company shoes to
schools. However, he supplied some other brand shoes which are
sub-standard. We approached the commissioner who asked us to file a
complaint,” said Vijay Lokhande of education board.
“The supplier was not able to deliver shoes on time. He was given
the work order in June and was supposed to deliver shoes within 60
days. But he made the delivery only in September after we issued him
three notices. We are thinking of blacklisting him,” added Lokhande. The
shoes were supplied to 44,000 students between Class I and VII.
“The education board officials informed me about it. They told me
the supplier provided sub-standard shoes in place of the branded shoes.
Since I am in Mumbai, I have asked the additional commissioner to take
appropriate action,” said Shrikar Pardeshi, Municipal Commissioner,
PCMC.
