Pune: The parking infrastructure norms framed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has drawn flak from the builders’ association as it has submitted that the parking space being made mandatory for residential buildings is more than that exists in any other city.
“The parking space per unit car proposed by the civic body is more than that exists in other cities in the country. The PMC should follow the parking norms followed in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Banglore,” said Promoters and Builders Association of Pune (now Credai) in a submission to the civic body while filing suggestions and objections on the parking norms.
It proposed changes in the parking norms set up by the civic body for residential buildings. The civic body had proposed parking for three cars, four two-wheelers and two cycle for tenement having carpet area of 150 sq meter and above but the builders’ association reduced the provision to three cars, two two-wheelers and one cycle.
Similarly, the civic body has proposed provision of parking space for two cars, three two-wheelers and two cycles for every tenement having carpet area between 80 to 150 sq m. The association expressed that there should be provision of only one car, two two-wheelers and two cycles.
However, the builders association increased the provision of parking for every two tenement having carpet area upto 40 sq m. It has suggested provision for six two-wheelers along with one car and eight cycles instead of four two-wheelers proposed by civic body.
The decision for making it mandatory for four and five star hotels to make parking available for five cars, six two-wheelers and four cycles for every five guest rooms was also objected by the association which has proposed three cars for every five guest rooms. The parking provision for every 40 seats in theatres, cinema house and concert hall was also reduced from six cars to five cars, 20 two-wheelers to 15 two-wheelers and 10 cycles to five cycles.
The parking norms for colleges with three cars, 30 two-wheelers and 20 cycles for every 100 sq m was amended with provision of two cars, 20 two-wheelers and 10 cycles.
