Civic body starts campaign to clear Chandigarh of piling rubble
Special teams have been constituted for the purpose. A flying squad
comprising three members and a security guard will keep a check on the
city round-the-clock. Residents renovating or constructing a house can
call and pay MC to lift rubble. The violators will be fined. In case of
government houses, the rubble should be lifted by government contractual
employees, else challan will be issued to the authorities concerned.
The drive which kicked off from Sector 34 will also cover back lanes of
houses and road gullies, besides villages and colonies.
JCB
machines, rubble trucks and tractor trolleys, among others, will be put
into service. Councillors will also create awareness in their areas to
keep the city clean. The mayor said NGOs, trader associations, resident
welfare associations, teachers, students and residents should take part
in the campaign.
