Civic body to fine owners of stray pigs
Stray pigs will be completely banned in the areas
falling under the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon from February 22.
Thereafter, stray pigs would be caught and expenses incurred in the
process would be recovered from the pig owners.
While
stating this on Wednesday, an official spokesman said that apart from
this, criminal cases against the pig owners would be registered under
Section 309 of Haryana Municipal Corporation Act 1994 under which there
is a provision of imprisonment of up to six months.
He
said that people have to face a lot of inconvenience due to presence of
large number of stray pigs in the Municipal Corporation area. The stray
pigs also hamper smooth flow of traffic leading to road accidents. He
said that the pig owners have been directed to make adequate
arrangements to ensure that no pig was found roaming in the areas of
Municipal Corporation after February 22, 2015.
