Pune: Unable to cope with the rising demand for better civic services by the growing city population, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) initiative to prepare a vision document of five years by each department is yet to see the light of the day. Ten months ago, it found a place in the budget document.“The vision document will be prepared after compiling the vision statement by each department. However, there are no submission so far as the department are still working on the vision statement. The work is in progress,” said Virendra Jadhavrao, Deputy Municipal Commissioner in-charge of reviewing the budget implementation.
He said the civic chief had to recently issue a circular with details to prepare the vision statement as there was confusion over its drafting.
Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Zagade introduced the concept of vision document for proper planning to meet the citizens demand and also enable people to keep a track of the promises made by each department. The document will carry the list of work to be undertaken for the next five years and the plan to execute it in time. The available funds and resources along with the demand of people has to be taken into consideration.
Deputy municipal commissioner Suresh Jagtap, in-charge of solid waste management department, said his department was still working on the vision statement. “The document has to have details of work along with budget for the purpose. It is taking time as all the details need to be mentioned,” he said.
Some of the departments had submitted the statement in a hurry and were asked to rework on it for which a circular was issued on the way it has to be drafted by each department. PMC health officials said it was not possible to prepare a draft in short time because of immense work load.
