Civic body’s Foundation Day celebrations begin
JAIPUR: A month-long Jaipur Festival (283rd Foundation Day of Jaipur) began with fanfare on Thursday morning at Moti Doongri Ganesh temple, while an NGO celebrated the occasion by cutting a grand cake at the city’s historic Statue Circle.
Around 8 am, Mayor Jyoti Khandelwal, along with her deputy Manish Pareek, and others kicked off the celebration by offering puja at Ganesh and Govind Devji’s temple. Later, in the temple precincts of Govind Devji a team of local artistes performed Kathak. The dance troupe, under the direction of erstwhile danseuse Reach Thicker, staged Krishna Vandana, Krishna Baal Leela, besides performing folk-based, one-act plays.
Khandelwal said she prayed for the city’s development and harmony. Elaborating on attractions for next two days, she said a programme ‘Sharad Chandni’ at Jalmahal on November 20 and a folk-based programme at Niwaru Road will be organised on November 21.
