Civic polls paper filing from March 13
Deputy Commissioner Vinay Choubey
said, “Nominations can be filed from March 13-19 between 11 am to 3pm.
Scrutiny will be done on March 20 and names can be withdrawn till March
21 and symbols will be allotted on March 22. The counting will be done
on April 11.”
There will be 1,830 polling booths in the
district for electing 55 ward councillors and the mayor. “One returning
officer has been appointed for mayor’s election and 11 for 55 wards. The
returning officers have also been allotted rooms where people can file
nominations,” Choubey said.
Minimum age for filing nominations
for the post of ward councillor is 21 while that for mayor is 30. “The
nomination fee for ward councillor for general category is Rs.1000 while
for SC, ST and women is Rs.500. The post of mayor is reserved for
scheduled caste and the nomination fee is Rs.2500. A person can apply
for the post of ward councillor in the same ward in which his name is in
the voter’s list,” said Choubey. “Those who are appearing in the wards
reserved for SC, ST and OBC must submit caste certificate.”
Every person who will file the nomination must take a no objection
certificate from RMC claiming that they have no pending debts like water
tax and holding tax on them. Regarding the security measures Choubey
said, “The areas having polling booths are distributed in three
categories normal, sensitive and very sensitive and security
arrangements will be done according to the sensitivity of the area.”
