Clean water to be provided in all Punjab cities, says Sukhbir
Chandigarh: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday said the State Government would provide clean water to people by installing Reverse Osmosis system (ROs) in every municipal ward in all cities.
Speaking to media persons after inaugurating an elevated road project worth Rs.223 crore in Amritsar, Mr. Badal said in the first phase five towns would be covered under RO System to provide bottled water at 10 paise per litre.
The RO system has been a great success in the villages of Malwa, Doaba and Majha and over 400 villages have already been covered under this, he said.
Promising to change the face of Amritsar in the next one year, Mr. Badal said the holy city would soon have a Rs.600-crore urban renewal package. Under this, the projects would focus on rejuvenating sewage disposal network and water supply network of Amrtisar and adjoining cities like Ajnala, Tarntaran, Majitha. – PTI
