Cleaning bug bites MC
LUDHIANA: Keeping in view the forthcoming visit of Sukhbir Badal, all municipal corporation officials remained on their toes on Monday as they made final preparations at the inauguration spots.
The cleaning of Buddha Nullah has also started as the foundation stone would be laid at the main bridge passing over the drain. Police personnel have been deputed on the bridge, who conducted checking with dog squad. Along with this, the centre verge of the Ferozepur Road was also being decorated as most of the functions would take place here. In the meantime the officials also conducted a check at the Ganda Nullah in Issa Nagar.
In a few areas, the work of recarpeting of roads was also going on in full swing. The officers of the operation and maintenance department had been deputed in Guru Nanak Bhawan for checking arrangements there. Where on one hand the officials remained busy in completing these works, public found it difficult to trace them for their works in the MC departments.
On the condition of anonymity, one of the officials said they have been asked to do works that do not come under their jurisdiction. He further said there is no use raising hue and cry over it because they could not refuse from performing such duties especially during VIP movements in the city.
“Several development projects of the city are going to start on Tuesday and all arrangements have been completed,” said Parveen Bansal senior deputy mayor.
