Cleared of encroachments, roads free from traffic snarls
Thanks to the hard decisions taken by Municipal
Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) and the Karimnagar town police
authorities, the otherwise busy and congested roads at the busy market
area and Annapurna complex near Tower Circle in the town have been eased
of traffic snarls following the removal of encroachments by vegetable
and fruit vendors.
The busy road from Venkateshwara
temple to Gunj area and the parking lots at the New Annapurna shopping
complex, Forest guest house and other places had been encroached by the
vegetable and fruit vendors, causing traffic problems and nuisance to
road users.
In spite of several pleas by the locals, the traffic woes were unending on these roads for several years.
The
MCK authorities, along with the town police, removed all the
encroachments and instructed the vendors to shift to the spacious Rythu
Bazaar.
MCK Commissioner M. Vanaja Devi said that they have made elaborate arrangements for the vendors at the Rythu Bazaar.
Appeal
Meanwhile,
in a press note here on Sunday, Lok Satta district president N.
Srinivas and general secretary T. Rajamouli have called upon the
vegetable and fruit vendors to utilise the facilities at the model Rythu
Bazaar.
They said that the removal of encroachments
from the roads solved the long-pending traffic congestion and parking
problems at the market and other areas.
They also
urged the traffic police to ensure that the vendors did not return to
their old points on the roads and cause traffic problems again.
The
Lok Satta leaders also urged the municipal authorities to construct
cement platforms and other facilities for the benefit of vendors as well
as the customers at the Old Market area in the town.
