Clicks of beautiful Kovai displayed at Corporation
Forty-six pictures that were handpicked from the 402
entries of the Click Kovai photography contest were displayed in a
one-day photography exhibition on the Coimbatore Corporation office
premises on Thursday. The contest was jointly organised by the
Corporation and Green Global Trust to showcase the beauty of Coimbatore.
Commemorating
the World Photography Day, the competition was open till August 19, to
showcase the talents of Coimbatoreans and the beauty of the city. As
many as 122 contestants participated in the competition and submitted
402 entries in topics ranging from Water Bodies in Coimbatore, Hills of
Coimbatore, Greenery in Coimbatore and Coimbatore City Life.
Distributing prizes to the winners, Mayor of Coimbatore Corporation P.
Rajkumar said that Coimbatore had been known as an industrial city and
such events would be helpful in highlighting its beauty. He said that
select pictures from the competition would be used for promotional and
campaign materials prepared by the Corporation.
Mr.
Rajkumar also gave away prizes to the top three winners and three
consolation prize winners. P.M. Mohammed Ashik won a DSLR camera as the
first prize. J. Johnson won a gift voucher for Rs. 10,000 for the second
prize and S. Mukilvendan won a gift voucher for Rs. 5,000 for the third
prize.
Arjun
Muthukrishnan, R. Balu Mahendran and R. Prakash Kumar were given
consolation prizes. Their pictures were among the 46 pictures displayed
at the exhibition on Thursday.

Photo Center, Srinivasan Durai of Srini Institute of Photography, N.N.
Parasram of Savithri Photo house, T.S. Ramanan of Glolabs and former
head of the department of Mass Communication, PSG College of Arts and
Science C. Pichandy were judges of the event. Participation certificates
were given away to all the participants.
