Some site owners near Salagame Road had constructed a wall, blocking a
link road
HASSAN: City Municipal Council (CMC) president Ambika Ravishankar inspected a residential area on Salagame Road here on Tuesday where complaints that site owners had constructed a protective wall blocking the road linking Salagame Road were received.
Records shown
The owners of the site showed their records to Ms. Ravishankar.
According to the records, Gangamma Chandrasekhar purchased a 100 ft. by 100 ft. site from the Hassan CMC (then it was a town municipality) in 1946 in an auction conducted by the municipality.
Then she sold 50 ft. by 100 ft. of the area to Anne Gowda. The remaining 50 ft. by 100 ft. was divided into two parts and sold to A.B. Nagaraj and Bhagya Sumathi. All have constructed houses and are paying taxes to the CMC since then.
In their records that were shown to the president, there is no mention of a road.
Directive soon
Ms. Ravishankar told presspersons that she would now direct the CMC Commissioner to verify the Town Survey records before taking further action in the matter. City Municipal Council Commissioner Shivalinge Gowda was present during the inspection.
