In a bid to check unauthorised constructions in the Chennai
metropolitan area, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on
Thursday locked and sealed two buildings in Pursaiwakkam and
Perumbakkam, respectively, for violating the Town and Country Planning
Act, 1971.

A CMDA spokesman told Express that officials have
sealed a five-storey residential building in Pursaiwakkam as the owner
has deviated from the original plan. The lock and seal notice to the
building was issued on February 8. A commercial building in Perumbakkam
village was sealed after a notice of lock and seal, and demolition
notice was issued on February 6, 2013.
