Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on Tuesday locked
and sealed the fourth and fifth floors of a multi-storeyed hospital
building in Thirumalai Nagar Avenue in Korattur. The action by CMDA
comes in the wake of Madras High Court rejecting the petition of the
promoters of the hospital challenging CMDA order to restore the land to
its original position.
The court has observed that the hospital promoters without obtaining planning permission constructed a hospital building.
CMDA
said that the owner of the building constructed unauthorized ground
floor plus five floors of the multi-storeyed hospital building.
“The fourth and fifth floors of the hospital building had been locked and sealed,” a CMDA release stated.
CMDA
stated that despite locking and sealing notice issued on November 12,
2013, the owner did not rectify the building and instead continued to
proceed with the construction.
