Coimbatore Corporation geared up to combat dengue: Mayor
The Coimbatore Corporation was fully geared up to
control the spread of dengue, said Mayor S.M. Velusamy at a review
meeting held at the Corporation on Saturday.
A
release from the civic body said that the Corporation had initiated all
possible measures to prevent the spread of dengue. The Corporation staff
were engaged in the process of spreading awareness and identifying new
cases, if any.
The civic body’s health establishments
as well as the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital had enough stock of
tamiflu to be administered to the affected as well as those who had come
into contact with the affected.
Mr. Velusamy said
that the Corporation had already conducted ward-wise awareness camps to
educate the public on the measures to be taken to prevent the spread of
the disease and also deployed additional workforce to destroy mosquito
breeding places.
He also spoke about the preventive
measures medical as well as paramedical staff needed to take to avoid
getting infected when they treated or attended to the affected. Senior
Corporation officials were also present at the review meeting.
