Construction of new municipal office inspected

PERAMBALUR: Collector M. Vijayakumar inspected the construction works
of the new municipal office near the new bus stand in the town on
Tuesday at an outlay of Rs.85 lakh and directed the officials to
complete the work by February next.
The municipal office building is being constructed under the Infrastructure Gap Filling scheme 2007-08.
While the government has sanctioned Rs.40 lakh for this project, the
remaining sum of Rs.45 lakh is contributed by the local municipality.
Surendar Sha, Municipal Commissioner, explained the progress of the
work.
The State Information and Public Relations Department has planned to
construct an exhibition to explain the various achievements of the
government departments at the municipal ground from December 25.
An exhibition of the products made by the women self help groups
organised by the Mahalir Thittam will also commence at the same venue.
Mr. Vijayakumar inspected the ground this morning.
