Cops to shoot down pigsNIZAMABAD, Oct. 19: The menace of pigs within the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation limits is to be addressed by shooting them. It is learnt that the task will be entrusted to the police department.
The town has been facing various problems due to the pig menace and officials have finally decided to eliminate straying pigs with the help of police.
Allegedly, the owners of the pigs have failed to control the animals and it is turning out to be a sanitation problem in the town.
The hundreds of pigs that move around town are unhygienic and irked locals have been regularly complaining about the menace.
Officials, so far, had failed to sort out the problem as the owners of the pigs did not respond positively in spite of the municipal health wing officials identifying a separate place for the pigs.
The district collector and municipal special officer, Mr D. Vara Prasad, received several complaints on Tuesday on the problem during his visit to Gayathri Nagar, Devi Road, Subhashnagar, NGOs Colony and other parts of the town.
Following this, Mr Prasad directed corporation officials to issue notices to the owners of the pigs to shift the animals to the identified place or they would be shot by the police, he warned.
In a separate issue, Mr Prasad said that the by-pass road works in Nizamabad would be completed in six months.
