Corpn okays 11 new flyovers in city
The Chennai Corporation Council today passed
resolutions giving permission to construct 11 new flyovers, subways and
footpath across the city.
At
the council meeting at Ripon Buildings here, a total of 68 resolutions
were passed. The meeting was presided over by Mayor Saidai Duraisamy.
Commissioner Vikram Kapoor and Deputy Mayor Benjamin were also present.
Among others, flyovers will come up at the T Nagar MGR Road and
Thiumalaipilli Road junnction and Valluvar Kottam High Road – Sterling
Road Junction, Madhya Kailash Junction near Adyar, Virugambakkam
Kaliamman Koil Street – NSK Salai Junction.
A resolution to
create a separate department to look after and maintain all works
related to Amma Unavagams was also passed at the meeting. It was
decided to install 1.10 lakh streetlights at various places at a total
cost of Rs 300 crore following the advice of Tamilnadu Chief Minister J
Jayalalithaa.
The meet also passed a resolution to grant
permission to private companies to manufacture fertlizer and
agro-oriented products from segretagation of waste at Meenjur,
Koothambakkam and Vallore.
It was also resolved to hike rental charhges for cable wires that run across several stretches in the city.
