Corporation launches awareness campaign

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran inaugurated an awareness campaign and vehicle rally launched by the city Corporation as part of the pre-monsoon cleaning drive-2010 at Gandhi Park here on Thursday.
The campaign was launched to popularise and ensure public participation in the pre-monsoon cleaning drive undertaken by the Corporation. The city was divided into four zones for the implementation of the awareness campaign. The awareness rallies in the zones were led by deputy mayor V. Jayaprakash, health and education standing committee chairman G.R. Anil, works standing committee chairman Puthankada Vijayan and tax and appeal standing committee chairperson Aisha Baker.
Four campaign short-films produced by the KSFDC were released at the function.
Mayor C. Jayan Babu presided over the function in which filmmaker Lenin Rajendran was the chief guest. MLAs V. Sivankutty and V. Surendran Pillai, Corporation secretary K. Biju, development standing committee chairman K.O. Ashokan, welfare standing committee chairman S.A. Sundar, town planning standing committee chairperson M.S. Shobhita, Corporation council UDF leader Johnson Joseph, councillor Chalai Mohan and Corporation health officer D. Sreekumar were present.
