The Corporation Council which met here on Thursday has given the nod
to increase the ticket rates at 11 cinema theatres in the city. An
increase of Rs 15 to Rs 20 has been made in these theatres for balcony,
family circle and reserved classes. Following which, the fare for
balcony will be Rs 80 and Rs 90, family circle Rs 90 and reserved class
Rs 70 and Rs 80 in various theatres.
The fare at Kripa theatre
will be raised after the maintenance activities are completed.
Considering the applications received by the cinema halls, the Finance
Standing Committee members of the Corporation had visited them to assess
the facilities. Most of these theatres have been graded either gold
plus or gold by the government.
Streetlights
In order to end
the deadlock over the maintenance of streetlights in the capital, the
Corporation is all set to invite bids for annual maintenance contracts
(AMC). The councillors have to prepare a list of the status of the
streetlights in their wards – whether they are functional or not.
Adjournment
In
the adjournment motion presented by Thampanoor ward councillor R
Harikumar, demanding that the government should take strict action
against those who attacked Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, the Mayor said
that the Corporation condemns at the incident and demands punishment to
the culprits behind it.
