Corporation to promote stargazing
Thiruvananthapuram: Schoolchildren and the general public will be prepared for a glimpse of the celestial spectacle unfolding in the skies on New Year eve. City Corporation Council on Wednesday approved a proposal to provide facilities for the public to view the partial lunar eclipse marking the end of the year 2009 and the solar eclipse on January 15. The project estimated to cost Rs.10 lakh seeks to install telescopes in schools and public places and popularise the study of astronomy. The project envisages the preparation of modules for the study of basic astronomy.
