Corporation’s fiat on tax
Corporation Commissioner R. Nanthagopal has warned that
water supply and drainage connections would be severed for those who
have not paid the various taxes and charges due to the civic body.
In
a statement, he asked the city residents to pay property tax, drinking
water charges, underground drainage maintenance charges and deposits,
professional tax, and tax for mobile phone towers for the second half of
2012-13.
The tax collection centres in the city would remain open on all Saturdays and Sundays till March 31.
In
another statement he said that road re-laying work for an eight-km
stretch of the Ring Road would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 2.67 crore.
While inspecting the 27-km-long Ring Road connecting Melur Road with
Kappalur on Friday, he instructed the officials to complete the work
within 15 days as planned.
Corporation City Engineer
A. Mathuram said that the five toll plazas on the Ring Road would be
modernised at a cost of Rs. 13 crore. The road would have four lanes for
a 200- metre stretch near the toll plazas. The Corporation has taken up
the work to widen road near Pandikoil and Velammal Medical College, the
statement added.
