Corporators seek cleaning of drains in city
officers was organised at the zonal office of Allahpur in which
corporators put forth various demands, including cleaning up of drains
of the city to solve the problem of water logging in the rainy season.
They also demanded cleaning up of the choked sewer lines of the city.
Municipal commissioner R Vikram Singh discussed the plan for cleaning the drains and directed an AMC engineer to take suitable measures to solve the problem.
The coporators also raised the matter of repair of all the pumps of
pumping stations of Buxi Bund, Allahpur, Morigate Daraganj, Baluaghat
Chachar Nala, Mumfordganj and other pumping stations before the rainy
season.
Corporator Shiv Sevak Singh said developmental work in
the wards had come to a standstill, therefore, measures should be taken
to start work of at least Rs 5 lakh in each ward of the city. This
demand has also been passed through a resolution in the sadan and
executive council meeting. Corruption that has seeped in the work
culture of Allahabad Municipal Corporation should also be removed. AMC
administration conceded to the demand of starting the work of about Rs 5
lakh in each ward as per the resolution passed by the sadan and the
executive council.
The corporators also demanded that the old
house owners should be given concession of about 25, 32½ and 40% in
house tax as per the rules. The municipal commissioner said he was ready
to give concession in house tax as per rules during the present
financial year of 2013-14. But, there is possibility of financial
problems if concession in house tax is provided for the year 2011-12 and
2012-13. Shiv Sewak Singh objected to this and demanded that house
owners be given concession as per the rules even in the year 2011-12 and
2012-13. Many corporators of the city including Shiv Sewak Singh, Kusum
Lata Gupta, Chandra Shekhar, Dinesh Gupta and others participated in the meeting.
