Crisis continues to dog civic bodyNov. 23: The first meeting of corporators of Belgaum City Corporation since the mayoral elections held on March 31, failed to come to a consensus on the election of chairpersons to various standing committees of the corporation. The meeting which lasted for more than three hours behind schedule could elect only the members to all the four standing committees. According to mayor N.B. Nirwani, chairpersons for all the committees will be elected in the next few days.
Since morning, the ruling Kannada and opposition Marathi groups argued with the mayor demanding an equal share in the membership of all the standing committees.
