Dargah donates garbage collection van, bins to Nagapattinam municipality
The Nagore Dargah has donated a garbage collection van and garbage dumper bins to the Nagapattinam Municipality.
The MARG Karaikal Port has come forward to pay a monthly salary of Rs.15,000 to the driver of the garbage collection van.
The van and the garbage bins were handed over to Fisheries Minister
K.A.Jayapal by the Managing Trustee of the Nagore Dargah S.A.Sheik
Hassan at a brief ceremony on Sunday in the presence of Collector
T.Munusamy, Manjula Chandramohan, Nagapattinam Municipal Chairman, and
Prasad Rebala, senior vice president (port management), MARG Karaikal
Port.
The total cost of the van and the 10 garbage bins donated by the Dargah was around Rs.10 lakhs.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Jayapal commended the management of the
Nagore Dargah and the MARG Karaikal Port for participating in civic
development programmes. The Minister assured to carryout various
development works in Nagore in consultation with stakeholders by January
and appealed to the people to participate in the initiatives.
Mr.Munusamy pointed out that Nagore was a famous religious tourism
centre and the town lacked adequate lodging places. Steps would be taken
to improve the basic needs of the town soon.
