DDA officials inspect flats in Vasant Kunj housing complex
Senior officials of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Tuesday
visited Vasant Kunj housing complex, part of the DDA Housing Scheme
2010, to take stock of the situation. DDA sources claimed that this was
part of a routine inspection to expedite work on ground. No action was
taken against any official, they said.
Newsline had earlier had carried a series highlighting the
condition of the 484 flats in Vasant Kunj, which were still under
construction in Yamuna and Ganga blocks with exposed wires and broken
furniture strewn all over.
A senior official said: “This was part of our routine inspection.
Everything seems to be fine in Vasant Kunj. In fact, people are living
in some of the flats. We hope to have the Yamuna and Ganga towers ready
by December.”
Officials from DDA are expected to visit Dwarka and Rohini housing complexes also.
“In Dwarka, water is a problem and providing connections will
take time. Meanwhile, we have asked discoms to expedite work of
providing power connections to the complexes,” said the official.
On Saturday, senior engineers had inspected the 336 flats in
Mukherjee Nagar where allottees were given possession in June, though
the flats were not in a liveable condition. Four engineers were
suspended for dereliction of duty, following the inspection .
While taking over charge last week, the DDA vice-chairman Sanjay
Kumar Srivastava had promised action against officials who were found to
be responsible for incomplete work at various housing sites under the
