Deadline extended
The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB)
announced that the applications for the registration of borewells will
be received until April 30, 2013. According to the Karnataka Ground
Water Authority Order and Act 2012, all existing users of groundwater in
the notified area have to register their borewell within 120 days of
the notification and therefore had to be submitted by April 3. However,
it has now been extended until the end of the month and will also be
asking for an explanation for the delay in submitting the application in
writing. A BWSSB release said that failure to register within the
deadline will amount to penalty of Rs. 2,000, or imprisonment for three
months, or both.
