Default in rent payment: shops sealed
Thirteen shops owned by the Hosur Municipality in Main
Bus Stand, Old Bengaluru Road and MGR Daily Market have been sealed
during the last two days, said M. Elangovan, Commissioner, here on
Thursday.
Dr. Elangovan told
The Hindu
that the shops leased to private persons in the commercial complexes in
new bus stand and elsewhere, were given enough time to pay the rent
arrears.
As they failed to meet the deadline,
officials sealed the shops as a last resort, it was stated. When action
commenced, some of the shop owners paid their dues to avoid their
outlets being sealed.
Rent from shops in the new bus stand, Old Bengaluru Road and elsewhere in the town fetched Rs. 75 lakh to Rs. 80 lakh a year.
Water supply
To
meet the drinking water shortage during summer, the municipality has
taken various steps including digging of 100 new bore wells to
supplement the 420 bore wells in the municipal area.
