COIMBATORE: Venkitapuram residents are irked over the Coimbatore
Corporation’s delay in plugging a leak in the water line, near the
Government College of Technology.
The leak had created a pothole on the Thadagam Road, troubling
motorists who, caught unawareness, often fell on the road. P.
Lakshmanan, a shopkeeper in the area, said everyday for the past 15 days
at least three people had met with accidents.
Autorickshaw driver Sreenivasan said that on Tuesday alone eight
people fell of their motorcycles. Absence of street light at the spot
had only compounded the problem. After the series of accidents on
Tuesday, the residents and a few students came together to put up a
temporary warning board and erect a barricade.
When asked about the delay, a Corporation official said the work would start work at the earliest.
