Display plastic bag rates: GHMC
GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu has directed all major retail
chain shops to display at cash counters the price of plastic carry bags,
at cash counters by September 15.
He said the use of jute or
cotton bags would be incentivised. Those making use of such bags would
stand to gain Rs. 3 on purchase of Rs. 500 worth of goods and Rs. 5 for
articles worth Rs. 1,000.
Mr. Krishna Babu on Wednesday held a
review meeting with GHMC Additional Commissioner (H&S) L. Vandan
Kumar and major shop owners, wholesale, retail dealers, shopping malls
with regard to the ban on plastic carry bags and to encourage cloth and
jute bags as per the notification of the Union Environment Ministry, a
press release said.
