Don’t unnecessarily delay water supply: Collector

ERODE: Collector T. Soundiah has instructed the officials of Tamil
Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board to ensure adequate supply of
water to all the villages in the district.
Inspecting the water supply works being carried out here recently,
the Collector said there should be no unnecessary delay in the supply of
water and the senior officials in the board should closely monitor it .
He also visited the water purifying facility in Sooriyampalayam town
panchayat. It was established at Rs. 4.98 crore and it began functioning
in 2003, supplying protected drinking water to 51 villages.
Over 22.50 lakh litres of water was being provided to more than
29,000 people in Sooriyampalayam town panchayat, Gangapuram, Ellapalayam
and Villarasampatti through the facility.
A total of 19 overhead water tanks and 81 pipelines were being supplied water through the facility.
Fix meter
Mr. Soundiah, while inspecting the pumping station of
Kothukaranputhur combined water supply scheme, instructed the officials
to fix a meter to measure the quantity of water supplied through the
scheme.
Board Executive Engineer K. Paramasivam, Assistant Executive Engineer K. Thangavel and senior officials were present.
