Drinking water project on track
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa through video conferencing
laid the foundation stone for the fourth main drinking water pipeline
project at a cost of Rs. 282. 44 crore and a sewage treatment plant
project at a cost of Rs. 60 crore in Tuticorin.
Hailing the initiative, corporation authorities launched a celebratory programme at the corporation office premises.
The
programme was attended by MLA, S.T. Chellapandian, Corporation Mayor L.
Sasikala Pushpa, Deputy Mayor P. Xavier, Corporation Commissioner S.
Madhumathi, Executive Engineer S.A. Rajagopalan, officials and
councillors of various wards. The much awaited facility would cater to
the basic needs of over 80, 000 households across the corporation limit.
Apart from the existing 40, 000 connections, 60, 000 more such
connections would be extended once the project was completed.
