Easier water connection norms from today
The Kerala Water Authority’s simplified procedures for
getting domestic drinking water connection will come into force on
Thursday. As per the norms, the assistant engineers with jurisdiction
over an area can process applications, establish feasibility, and
sanction domestic connections.
As per the norms, the
applicant can execute the work directly through the authority or through
a licensed plumber authorised by the authority. Application for
connection should be accompanied with either the certificate issued by
the local body, EPIC, Aadhaar, NPR or ration card. Other documents that
should be submitted are two stamped envelopes, dimensional sketch of
proposed connection, and the estimate of the cost of work, in case work
is to be carried out through a plumber. The rules stipulate that
connection be provided within 15 days of the application in urban areas
and 30 days in rural areas.
