“Efforts on to supply adequate water to the affected areas”

Deputy Mayor of Tuticorin Corporation P. Xavier gave
away appointment orders to four junior assistant cum typists, four
unskilled workers, one female assistant and another assistant (clerical
cadre) and six sanitary workers in the corporation here on Monday.
Besides, orders were given to those who got promoted to assistant cum
typist, skilled assistants – grade I and part-time health visitors.
Commissioner of Corporation S. Madhumathi and officials from various
departments were present.
Mr. Xavier said efforts
were being taken to ensure adequate water supply to residents at regular
intervals. Tanker lorries would be deployed to supply water to the
affected wards – second, third, 17th and 18th wards. He said tender
would be floated soon to engage additional tanker lorries to supply
water to tail-end areas and affected wards. He alleged that the TWAD
Board officials had not been cooperating to supply water to these wards.
The issue was taken to the notice of Revenue Minister B.V. Ramana, who
reviewed the progress of various schemes in Tuticorin on Saturday and to
Collector M.Ravikumar.
