EMC plans expansion of arterial roads
The Eluru Municipal Corporation (EMC) has proposed to
take up expansion of eight arterial roads within the city limits. A
detailed survey on the road expansion works in different parts of the
city will be taken up shortly, according to Municipal Commissioner G.
Nagaraju.
The roads connecting the three main roads
leading to Kaikaluru, Jangareddygudem, and Chintalapudi from the city
have been proposed for expansion.
Poor connectivity
of the narrow and congested arterial roads with the main roads was found
to be the main reason for frequent traffic bottlenecks in the city, the
Commissioner said. The width of the roads was proposed to be maintained
at 40-60ft.
The Commissioner said the EMC
authorities would take measures for expansion of the road linking the
GNT road from the Powerpet railway station through a level crossing with
a width of 60ft. Complaints were galore from the students and the other
sections of people over the traffic problem in the city, forcing the
authorities to go for expansion of the roads, he added.
A detailed survey will be taken up in the city shortly, says EMC Commissioner.
