Encroachment removed

Coimbatore Corporation officials on Wednesday removed encroachment in Subbathal Layout, Rathinapuri.
According
to sources, officials from the Town Planning wing in the Central Zone
carried out the operation under the supervision of Town Planning Officer
A. Varadharajan.
The sources said that the
Corporation demolished a compound wall and bathroom after the structure
was found encroaching upon the road and drainage space at a crucial ‘L’
junction in the area.
The encroachment measuring
one-and-half cents had also delayed the completion of the storm water
drain work in the area as the contractor could not proceed digging the
place.
After complaints and representations to the
senior officials, who inspected the spot, the Town Planning wing
officials demolished the compound and the bathroom, making available
nearly 15 feet road and drainage space.
They said that the encroached structures had left behind only six to eight feet of the 23-foot wide road.
Soon
after the officials completed the eviction drive, the contractor
in-charge of constructing the storm water drain started work.
